City officials to decide on new data center in South San Jose — Ross Real Estate news

SAN JOSE A new data center along Charlotte Drive in South San Jose could be operational in three years should city officials give final approval for the project. Planned on 15.5 acres between Lexington Avenue and Raleigh Road on a parcel that is next to the Western Digital tech campus at 5601 Great Oaks Parkway, the facility is expected to total 444,400 square feet, city planning documents show. Apartments, single-family homes, shops and restaurants dot the area. An existing 165,000-square-foot building on the site would be demolished if the project moves forward. The developer, Bay Area real estate firm Menlo Equities, is seeking city approval of a development permit. In August, city planners gave final approval to the division of the 176.3-acre Western Digital campus.
